AWS 66 - York - 28th January 2023

Hello all!

AWS 66 is confirmed for Saturday 28th January 2023, at St. Aelred's Community Centre in York.

Venue:
St. Aelred's Community Centre,
216 Fifth Avenue,
Tang Hall,
York
YO31 0PN

There is onsite parking.

If you are doing any cutting/drilling etc. please make sure there is something underneath the workpiece to avoid damaging the table.

Public Transport Access:
York is on the main North/South train line. There is a bus stop very close to the venue. If you are travelling from the station, you can catch the no. 6 bus from Rougier Street, a few minutes walk away from the station, and get off at Eighth Avenue Playing Fields.

Schedule:
8am - event setup
9am - tech checks open (or whenever setup is finished)
10am - tech checks close, competition begins
12:30pm - if time allows, lunch break
5pm - aiming for end of competition, awards, teardown/tidyup time
6pm - booking end

Cube: strict, 4 inch cube
Weight: 1% allowance for deviation in scales (151.5g), don't design for that!

Health and Safety:
Masks and negative LFTs are not mandatory, but if you're feeling unwell, please do not attend. Please exercise best judgement on your condition before coming.

If anyone has any first aid experience, I'd welcome volunteers to be the nominated first aider (I'm responsible for nominating a first aider in the venue T&Cs)

If you need to get into contact with me, it would be better to do so via Facebook, as I'm not very active on this forum anymore.

Hey :)

A bit late I know but just to say, massive thanks to Thomas Yau for hosting this AWS, and congratulations to Matt Smith of Team Croc for winning AWS 66 on his debut at the event with PANTHERK 2.5!

Next AWS is indeed in Gloucester on the 29th April, hosted by Ben Garbutt (one of the regulars at the Bristol Bot Builders events)
