AgoBros team, new member on the platform

Post by agors »

Hello all!

I’m a new member here, and new to the robot wars thing.

I designed and built a flipper and I’m finishing it during these days, hopefully ready for warwick event that will be my first one.

Hope to get some good tips and meet someone that can explain more about this world

Hi new robot builders are always welcome.
You can learn more at an event just by examining the other robots and talking to their builders than any other way.

You can either resize the image in paint for it to be small enough. or like many of us you can use an image hosting website and then post the link. imgur is a popular one.

i use gyazo... theres both an app for android (unsure of ios app) and a pc version... the pc version allows to to highlight an area of your screen and will generate a link you can post, the android app allows you to take a picture then copies link to clipboard to post later... its free and requires no account to use the service

Let’s try

Pusher and flipper

These are the cad, I’ll post some pic when ready.
I’m worried that the servo on the flipper is too slow.

Any other suggestion?

Well, I suggest either:

- Easy way: Buy a more expensive servo, which will be more powerful and tolerate higher voltage; run it on battery voltage (e.g. 2S lipo) not the 5v from ESC /BEC.
- Hard way: run the flipper from a suitable N20 gear-motor, you will need another ESC and the controls will be different. Mechanical linkage also probably more challenging.

I use a 100:1 N20 gear motor with over volt to 17V. I'm not convinced that this is the best way, I think maybe a ~ 50:1 ratio could be better.

Also if you really want, use a Pololu high power N20 or something. That would be quite a flip (if it didn't destroy itself or the electrics)
Robots: Betsie - RaspberryPi controlled flipper bot with gyro stablisation - too clever for her own good?
Stacie - tidy flipper; 4wd driven by hair bands

thanks for the tips, at the moment I'm using a pretty fast MG corona servo (Corona 919MG Digital Metal Gear Servo / 0.06sec) at 2s Lipo, hope it will work fine without issues. from the test seems to be ok, no jittering o weird stuff from the high voltage supply!

Quick question on the rules,
If a bot is damaged during an event, can I replace the body or other parts between battles?

You can replace parts but your robot still has to meet the tech check requirements I think (4" cube size max, 150g max). There was a query about replacing the body during a event in a different thread which I don't recall the outcome of but if it was me, I'd simply fix what was broken.
