Re: AWS 46- University of Reading- 28th March 2015

Post by teamocean »

As previously mentioned sign ups have now closed and the link removed from the first post. Even with people that we know can no longer make it we should still be on over 100 robots in the main event which is fantastic :)

A couple of points which I would like to remind people of for tomorrow.

1. The venue is different to the one we have used for the past 2 years- we are now in the Meadow Suite in Park House (building number 8 on this map http://www.reading.ac.uk/web/FILES/Univ ... -May13.pdf)

2. There will be signs to the venue from the Pepper Lane entrance to the campus- feel free to use the Shinfield Road entrance as well but it may be harder to find.

3. Please try to arrive between 9.30 and 10.15 to make sign in easier.

4. To unload you can use the gravel car park outside Park House. Once you have unloaded please move your car to Car Park P10 (on the map) it has been reserved for roboteers as there is also a university open day on so other car parks will be busy.

5. There will be a full briefing of the day at 10.30, sign in will close at 10.45- if you're not in the queue by then you will be removed from the competition.

6. The main compeitition will begin at 11am.

7. The whole event will be streamed on https://new.livestream.com/accounts/12780744

Any questions let me know.

We will be signing up ASAP. I hate to ask this, but how stingy are you feeling regarding weight? Our fleas are both 76.2 grams and there is very little we can do to lower it without changing something big.

Looking forward to the event!

Theres a small chance I may also be a late last minute withdrawal... Managed to get my foot slammed in a car door. I'm heading off to a&e as soon as I'm done in work. If it's just a bad sprain (which I think it is) I'll drag myself along. if anything is broken I'll probably be staying at home.

Alasdair; the team running the AWS stated in advance that sign-ups were going to close on Thursday, and they are now closed. I'd suggest getting in touch with Will or Rory and begging for an exception!

Rhys; Ouch! I hope it's nothing serious. All the best!

Some of our robots won`t be running, ran out of time building and wiring. We still have three ants and a cluster, also the flea and hopefully the nano if its available.
Batteries turned up at dinner today too so panic over :)
