Sabertooths
I just wanted to know what everyone thinks to be the average "life span" of a sabertooth 5A because two have failed me and I wondered if buying another would just be a waste of time. Does anyone find them to be particularly unreliable, is it something I'm doing wrong or am I just unlucky?

Before you criticize another person, first walk a mile in their shoes. Then, when you critisize them, you'll be a mile away and have their shoes.

What, your waller or your sabertooth? And I was seriously considering the latter but I'd be running it above max current ( 4 pololu Hps)

We use the new D2 board and it seems to run 4 HP gearmotors fine at 7.2vbitternboy wrote:What, your waller or your sabertooth? And I was seriously considering the latter but I'd be running it above max current ( 4 pololu Hps)

I've had two Sabertooths fail me. What's a D2 board?

Re: Sabertooths
I've got 3 Sabretooths. One of them is a good couple of years old now and still fine. Maybe it depends where you get them from, or what you run them with. I run mine on 7.2v with 4 HP motors now, never had an issue with any of them. I also keep the heatsinks on, I know some people take them off, maybe this has something to do with it? Just throwing out possibilities.

One of Peter's new range of speed controllers. I believe that he's already updated the D2 to a D3 board though.Simon Windisch wrote:I've had two Sabertooths fail me. What's a D2 board?

Re: Sabertooths
The only thing I can think that HAZ is talking about is the small contoller with the built in Rx31 receiver as it is the only one that costs more than a Sabretooth.for a few dollars more.....

mine lasted about 3 weeks before it died.
Seeing as he has never bought one I can only assume it was a Sabretooth that stopped working after 3 weeks.
Perhaps you could clarify that HAZ.
Re: Sabertooths

I'm tempting fate here but I have used about 4 sabretooths on robots from ants to 3lb kbots and never had any problems.
