Hi everyone, I know this is more of an antweight sight but I know a few people on here also build featherweights and I might have a go myself as a long project over the next year or so. If anybody could post me some links to decent featherweight components EG: good drills to get motors out of, receivers, ESCS, wheels, etc. I am planning on using an orange transmitter as this has mixing on it so that eliminates the hassle of installing some kind of mixing on the robot. Thanks guys.
Dan.

Re: Team Hectic possible featherweight build.
For motors you can't go wrong with the cheapest drill in the argos catalog. Many feathers use them and they work really well with some ~100mm wheels for the right speed on a 3S LiPo. Receivers I just keep using LemonRX's. ESC's these days are often reprogrammed TZ85A motor controllers due to their sortof robust nature though there are other options.

Ooh, awesome Yeah, you'll want some Argos Drills for drive likely; they're what most people use for simple feathers as they are nice and cheap: http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/p ... 112946.htm
They need hacking for use as drive motors, but there's a video on how to do that here (the whole series is quite good): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8_kWYewQmV0
Controllers used to be just buy a TZ85 from Ranglebox but they're out of stock atm. Not sure what other options there are for that.
2.2Ah 3 cell Lipo is about what you need and they're fairly cheap from Hobbyking.

Re: Team Hectic possible featherweight build.
Thanks guys. also, how do you connect the battery to the robot? I wouldn't imagine you'd just plug it into the receiver would you?
Also, I've been told these are good, what do you guys think? : http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/181744005899
And also what about these wheels: http://www.active-robots.com/100mm-wheel

Re: Team Hectic possible featherweight build.
No and no I'm afraid.
2 of these http://ranglebox.com/product/botbitz-30a-brushed-esc/ will do drill motors.
as for wheels https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AcIIUGBJzJM

Re: Team Hectic possible featherweight build.
I don't have a drill press or a source of hubs so I reckon I'd struggle to make the wheels that way. what about the banebots wheels? I've heard they wear quite quickly but are otherwise ok. http://www.banebots.com/product/T40P-295BA-HS4.html
Also, will this lipo do the trick? http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/stor ... LiHV_.html

Those are a bit overkill... something like this is probably more what you want: http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/stor ... duct=26715

Re: Team Hectic possible featherweight build.
Thanks Rory. i'll get one of those. It's looking like this is likely to be quite a long term project due to money constraints but I should be able to get it ready for Portsmouth robot wars live show 2017.
Also, I've been doing some more searching for decent wheels and I found a link to a site on the FRA forum that sells these 125mm diameter wheels with tyres already on them: http://www.bearingboys.co.uk/Poly-Tyre- ... eel-8695-p
opinions?

Re: Team Hectic possible featherweight build.
Bad. Too hard no grip. Also a tad large for fragile drills
also with banebots wheels you'd still have to get a hub together and pay america postage + customs and all that jazz.

i like these for simplicities sake. If you want I can make you drill hubs i've done a few for people now. Come to think of it I've got some hacked drill motors + mounts if you want them. Send us a message if you're interested.

I now have a pair of drill motors that will be Hacked at the AWS. I've also just ordered the plastic for the body and the wheels.
