Nothing wrong with white HDPE, it's what my heavys have mostly been made from.

black hdpe is just white hdpe that dye has been added to before it has been moulded

Jonny's right. the white stuff is just how it looks naturally, and then black (and all other colours) are dyed in the process. There's no real difference in composition. The white stuff certainly isn't "brittle", it held up fine when Tiberious bit Anger (though my motors and mountings didnt)

just out of interest, how much did the 60mm stuff cost you?

Was about £80 a slab when I got it, though its now more like £100.

Damn VAT increase/general price increases!

The slab of 500mm x 500mm x 20mm Nylon that I bought back in the day (Oct 2007) for Drumroll's chassis cost £51 including packing and handling. Now it costs £78.85 without packing and handling!! :o
