fleas

Post by Revvington_Wheeley »

Hi there I was thinking of making a flea and was wondering how difficult they are to build- what parts are expensive? what kind of budget do you need? and is anyone else actually building any fleas at the moment?

Thanks. Liam. :)

Hi liam, welcome to the forum

I am not sure anyone is building fleas at the moment. I only know of 3 working fleas atm.

The most expensive part to ants/fleas is the radio equipment. If you already own a set then they can be built from arround ?50-!00, if you do not then the price is about ?150 -?200. However it s possible to modify a small radio control car. It is possible to spend ?10 and has been done.

The price of ants and fleas are very similar so i would recommend looking at building antweights as there are at least 6 events a year. I don't believe that there are any flea events, except at antweight events.

Have a look at these links for more help on where to get started:

Thanks for the reply andrew. I was thinking the same thing about the mini rc cars (cos its probably the cheapest option and i'm skint :D ) but if I wanted to buy seperate components what kind of price would I be looking at for receivers?(everything else I've already found a price for)

Also, yeah I've been wanting to build an antweight for a while but its just a case of time and money I suppose :D thanks for the links though- very helpfull!

There are two good RX's the futaba R114 (?30), and the Hitec Feather (?17). Both are available from http://www.sussex-model-centre.co.uk
