Battery Sourcing

Post by Andrew_Hibberd »

Hi Everyone

Its been a while since I looked at my ants. I am going to try my best to get some new robots ready for AWS60.

I am struggling to find small lipos less than 150mah other than the turnigy nanotech 130mah with JSTs. I have had some luck removing the black ends and soldering to the cells, but its a real pain and have punctured a few cells in the past. What are people using in non-spinners these days?

Thanks,
Andy

Are those dimensions correct on the website Pete, they seem large for the capacity?

Dave Weston has pointed me to the 120mah optipower battery, which is a longer form factor.

They are more like 22 x 18 x 16 but the wires come out on the top so they have probably allowed for that in the 25 although as you can see in the picture if you remove the heatshrink you can get it down.
They are thicker than normal which does make them look bigger.
They are the same width and thickness as a 3 cell 180mah nano-tech but only just over half the length.
The wires are quite long and heavy so could be shortened to save weight.
