Great stuff Rory. What's driving it? Motors and speedo?

It's the same motors that Pete uses, but double speed hacked (removed all but the first gear in the train) and it's using a NanoTwo with a Lemon Rx running off a 60mAh single cell to control it all. Really fun just to drive around, but yet to see how it does in combat.
Also finally fixed Sir Lift-a-Lot after the Lemming's round against Randar, bringing me to 4 working Nanos now

Re: Another New Nanoweight...
Seeing as Spini's spinner had got so unbalanced that it was almost useless, I decided it was time for an upgrade:
It's a single tooth blade based on Why Wait?'s, made from 2mm mild steel. Managed to get it so nicely balanced that it only starts to vibrate around a little when on full throttle.
I need to tweak the motor mount a little as the blade currently sits about 2mm off the ground, meaning it can't bite scoops well yet. The bite seems to be pretty small most of the time sadly, though when it does get a good bite it's pretty impressive; threw Sir Lift-a-lot about a foot in the air in one test. I think the lack of bite's just due to the high speed and small diameter of the blade; hopefully it'll improve as work continues..

Re: Another New Nanoweight...
nice! i'd like to see a nano spinner throw another nano out from the middle of the arena.

Seeing as spini's was a bit of a disapointment, i decided to build a new nano spinner:
It's exactly on 25g without armour, so may have to weight save a little
I haven't tested it yet as the RX isn't binding for some reason... though i did test the blade first and it can tear up the milk bottle armour i usually use so that's a good start

Looks awesome and menacing; very nice indeed!

Now that's an awesome looking nano

Re: Another New Nanoweight...
After replacing the receiver twice and trying 3 different spinner escs, it now drives at least, but still can't really control the spinner speed very well, though well enough for some testing. Unfortunately it performs almost exactly like Gigantic Death Spinner did; as soon as it gets above 1/4 throttle on the spinner the whole thing just goes nuts and throws itself out the arena. The blade isn't at all balanced for some reason (It really should be, the center of mass for the blade was spot on on the motor shaft when it was fitted..), so it makes it very tricky to use atm. However even at 1/4 throttle it still took a chunk out my nano cube, and when I held it and throttled it up fully, it took a chunk out of an old HSOD chassis:
It also put a sizeable hole in an old milk bottle as well.
If I can get this to work properly, it's gonna be very nasty

Re: Another New Nanoweight...
I can't explain the physics of it but from my many tries at FBS I have found that when the mass of the spinner is a large proportion of the total robot weight things become very unstable and often result in the robot seeming to jump in the air and often fly apart.
Even on my ring spinner, what was a reasonably stable robot with just the ring and blades, did the same as soon as I added 12.5gm weights to each blade even though they were exactly the same weight and so still balanced.

Re: Another New Nanoweight...
Even when the spinner setup was being tested in the vice where it was entirely stationary it made the room vibrate! What you say may be true, but the blade is also definitely unbalanced :L I'll just have to use trial and error attacking it with the dremel to see if i can improve it to a level of usability.
