Age

Wanna talk about something other than robots? Really?? Can't understand it myself, but if you really want to, do it here....normal rules apply though!!

I'm 39 but James doesn't let me drive any of the robots as he's so much better than me at the age of 11

James has been competing regularly since he was 8 and was awarded "Best Driver" at AWS14. He came second and fourth in the knockout events at Aylesbury last month. At the other end of the age-range, Mr Waller has also been a regular winner. Age really is no barrier to ants!

I'm 16 and started with ants at age 12. The first version of Flippt! (yes, I still use that name) had paper and duct tape amour, and used a 9V battery :)

PS. I still use the same servos I got four years from now :) DS.

Hmm well im 20 now and im trying to date back to when i first started. I think it was just after aws 1. Since i remember msg Alan (maker of a robot called close shave) asking if he was able to get the thing in weight since it looked so nice.
He was having majour problems and he couldnt get the thing in the weight limit but he managed to for aws 2 and won it.

According to Oliver (and he was there!) AWS 1 took place on 26 September 1999. Since then the AWS has fallen into its thrice-yearly sequence of roughly February, June and October each year, with the odd excursion into March, July and November.
I believe Oliver and PeteC are the only people to have been involved in AWS 1 who are still active in ants.

Oliver and I were practically the only ones at WS1 :-) I've been to all but one WS so far, which I think is probably the attendance record, although Oliver must be pretty close.

I'm 35 but I stopped counting at 18.....
