i personaly think that jaffa cakes are well bisakes these are a mixture between the 2 options because that is what they are they are basicly bisckit size cakes and so i am not voting because jaffa cakes are neither options!

Definately a cake...er, maybe....in a biscuity kind of way...hmm...hang on....

From Dictionary.com...

A Biscuit - 1. A small cake of shortened bread leavened with baking powder or soda.

A Cake- 1. A sweet baked food made of flour, liquid, eggs, and other ingredients, such as raising agents and flavorings.

On that basis, its a biscuit!

I am sure i read somewhere that there was a poll like this when they first created it and they changed the name to cake as it was more cake than a biscuit. hence concluding it would be a cake-as it is called a cake

Ah, but as you see from my definitions, a biscuit is in fact a derivative of cake therefore it can equally be classed as a biscuit.

Actually, we could probably come up with a formula to define a biscuit based on cake:

b - biscuit
c - cake
d - diameter of said cake
l - depth of said cake
pi - 3.14159

.....then again, life may be too short :-)

this was a long running debate on another forum i frequent, and even though you obv dont care i shall set the record straight:

jaffa cakes are cakes, and have gone to great lengths to make it so. this is because manufacturers have to pay more tax on biscuits than they do on cakes. legally they are cakes. tho if you wish to call them biscuits i doubt they will sue you....
