Motor Controller

Post by Scooperman »

Hello,
I am sure that the answer to my question is somewhere here, but could you tell me what motor controller I should get to design a new antweight (at present I am using modified servos but want more speed)? Am am guessing a sabretooth but looking on Technobots don't know which one is best. Thanks

If the design is using modded servos you dont need a controller...

Sorry for the confusion, I am thinking of getting rid of the modified servos.

The Sabertooth 2 x 5A is more than man enough for the job.

If the speed controller is rated at the stall current of the motor then it will handle the motor without any problem. A motor takes maximum current when stalled. In fact, antweight drive motors hardly ever stall because there is not enough traction available (not enough mass).

The 12mm motors normally used in antweights take significantly less than the 5A that the smallest Sabertooth controller can deliver.

BTW welcome to the forum!

Oh, okay :)

The ones i recommend are sabretooth dual 5 amp radio control version from technobots.

I use the 10A version for my larger robots and can confirm that the Dimension range of controllers are superb.

(Just ordered an extra one from the same website and mine arrived quickly within 2 days.)
