Post by Remote-Controlled Dave »

I best get back into this hobby now uni is (very nearly) over.
Time for me to start fresh.
Can people post up links as to where they get those little geared motors from, and also suggestions for speed controllers ect would be appretiated too.
Thanks. Dave

It's worth your while calculating your ideal speed and buying a motor that fits it. for the LEGO wheels I use 500rpm results in a good speed at 7.4v.

If the motor spec states rpm it'll be at a particular voltage. You need to divide rpm by volts and multiply by the volts that you'll be using to see what rpm you'll get.

hey everyone, I am probably going to buy some (4) motors (the inertialab ones) and a sabretooth 5 amp 2 channel controller thingy.. Is there maybe someone who would also like to buy some, so we can save some money on the postage?

Apparently, many experienced builders use geared motors rather than servos. What are the benefits of a motor such as the Pololu with speed controller as opposed to a servo of the same weight?
