Forward/Off/Reverse circuit

Post by Andrew_Hibberd »

Just posting about the firing mechanism in anticide for RRC9, it is going to have an axe. However the mech could be used for a electric flipper or to replace speed controllers.

It requires a small servo, anything will work that can press a micro switch.

That is the set up in anticide.

The circuit diagram is as below:

The idea came from the bang bang system for drive in bigger robots, although ants don't need the relays. Looking forward to seeing other people with this

Have you seen the micro RC switches you can get?

Those mini micro switche4s can't handle much current, wouldn't they burn out providing power for the motor?

If you had a Stamp/Picaxe chip to read in the servo pulse you could send outputs to FETs or something like a L293 (amp chip) to drive the motors.

The weight wouln't be too far off the servo weight and would be more compact.

Yeah, its a mechanism that i'll be looking deep into when I make the new Baby Hell, as the current one is still not functioning

I have not yet had a problem with this design, apart from the 3V rated motor smells 'hot' on 3 lipos, no idea how muich current this spikes at, but the lipos get pretty hot. As most of you have seen the axe is quick and can grab, but would never be able to actually do any damage.

I may just change the motor to something like a stinger and see how well that works.... time will tell if i will though.
