Crusher, why not?
I've invested in the parts for another robot. Without thinking about the practical aspect, I decided to make it a crusher. Later I thought "Why aren't there more crushers in antweight combat?".
Firstly, I would like to appeal to people to please name as many crusher antweights as they can, to alleviate me of my ignorance...
Secondly, this is my 10 cents:
The physics at this scale means materials have a much higher effective strength. In my research I discovered a metric known as punching pressure (the pressure required to punch through a sheet). I haven't done the following calculation myself, but plugging in the numbers it appears that a 1mm thick piece of polycarbonate takes about 23kg of mass placed of the area of 1mm**2 to be punched. That's a lot!!!
My new antweight will have a crushing weight equivalent force of about 5kg, which keeping everything else constant means it will be able to punch just 0.23mm of polycarbonate.
That doesn't necessarily mean that there will be no damage. The tip of the crusher is less than 1mm**2, so there is some scratching potential. Nevertheless, I'm disappointed.

The only one I've seen is Dark Eagle on a YouTube video. That's it. I'm no engineer or physicist or any sort of scientist, but it still sounds like a good grabber/control bot.

I think it's yes - related to physics, but also the more mundane - availability of parts.
The hydraulics which some heavies use, are somewhat tricky in Antweight. The only way I can see it is to use bicycle hydraulic brake parts, but those are very specialised. Ideally you'd need some way of getting a huge mechanical advantage.
Lead screws - a possible way - but would need to be very robust and light enough and not have too much resistance etc, when under extreme pressure. I think there is possible mileage in a high-ratio N20 + leadscrew combo, but getting the right screw could be difficult.

Im in the process of creating a crusher and it is almost finished, using a 25kg servo (soon to be 35kg), I calculated the actual force it would produce at 25kg and it was around 7kg to the tip.

I have mounted the claw and more armour plates. Now, I'm looking to install the drive.
Could anyone please recommend a way of getting or making small tires to fit on a custom hub?

i use foam to make my wheels... then use fantastic elastic for grip... use more foam than you need and sand it down to size... i put my wheels in a drill and use my powerfile to shape them... I'd suggest either a jig, or make many at once to keep them uniform...
foam floor tiles (for kids to play on) are a decent source of antworthy foam... many colours available... i would get the 10mm stuff over the 7mm

Thanks, I'll bear that in mind. Unfortunately I've already committed to nylon hubs. I think I'm going to try cutting up some plastic tubing first.
