Robotcombat.com sell hubs for 3mm motor shafts for $8.49 a pair. I haven't tried them, but they look pretty good if you don't have access to all the proper toys.
(Had to make a V-block when I was at college - at last I've found a use for it!)

Was it UK robotics that ceased trading recently, presumably due to lack or sales.
What other questions would be asked? Could ask about coreless, brushless, speed controllers and stuff but now come of the outrunner motors have combo deals with speed controllers.
I need to update my servo list, try and do a FAQ and make a spinner document.
Perhaps a series of beginners guides would be the best way to go. As in starter ant, spinner, lifter, mixers and so-on.

Its supposed to give you hassle, thats what its there for. As you were saying about specialised tools, I have very basic tools, screwdriver, hacksaw, soldering iron (to bend plastic) and a Dremel, and lots of tape and cement putty. The only thing specially made on my robots were the wheels on Baby Hell and FIN's naro speed mods (CNC'd polycarb parts, contact Anthony Pritchard for more details), and it saved me farting around with the glue
