Re: First Time Bulid, Diary, And Noob Questions!
Having picked the parts and chassis/armour (kind of) I am now entering the design phase, so if anyone can recommend any designs for a 4WD pusher that be awesome
On a unrelated note, I've already thought of a name
Assailant
Its probably gonna end up being called that, but my mind may change ,

Assailant was my first ever competing ant.
I keep a list of names here so you can try and avoid clashes (It's not comprehensive).

Hi guys, I've been thinking, and I think that building a spinner\flipper would be more fun, and possibly more effective, and I've done the math and it could even be cheaper than a 4WD pusher, would this OK?

If it's a cheap servo and 2WD then it could be a cheaper flipper or about equal but a spinner requires a separate ESC and the spinner motor plus postage which costs about £15 and the disc for mine is abt £10 so it is significantly more expensive and challenging but with a flipper, if you want one, go for it,but effectiveness wise it's fairly similar

I found a brushless outrunner with esc inbuilt at hobby King for 16 pounds, but you're right I forgot about the disc, how is My Friendly Uncle doing?

Re: First Time Bulid, Diary, And Noob Questions!
Safety is an important concern for spinners, given what they can do - for a first robot I'd *strongly* discourage building a spinner if you need to ask any questions about how to build them, and that's not a comment aimed at reducing competition or because they're 'too complicated' (they're actually not that hard), it's more for the sake of your own fingers and other appendages. I know it's 'only' 150g but think about it in terms of hundreds of watts of power going into a sharp kinetic energy spinning device...
An active weapon of some sort is a good idea to learn with though, and flippers/lifters are a good starting point for that. As Alex Shakespeare's shown with ICBINS, there's no reason you can't combine an active weapon *and* 4WD so go for it if that's what you want to do!

Yeah, tomorrow i'll take a bunch of A4 sheets and start toying with ideas, and if i like one Ill start doing it in Sketchup, i think my next robot ill go for a spinner, I'll take this one as a learner
