suvv industries first attempt at an ant
a while back i posted about building a mini pneumatic flipper ant and having been bewildered by the thing i have decided to step back and go for something less complex
i have motors and wheels for drive and lots of polycarb(excessive ordering/credit card punishment) and i have had the idea of making a flail like contraption out of some metal wire and some bits of metal at the ends on a brushless motor(i hear they are all the rage) the controller is ordered and i am about to order the batteries (2 so that i can swap about) this will also hopefully lead to getting the skills together to finish making my toy chaos2 rc powered will get a doodle up later of what i hope "cannon fodder" will look like
incidently any sudgestions on brushless motors would be great

Re: suvv industries first attempt at an ant
The first spinner I built was a flail spinner using bike brake cable with M2 nuts crimped on the end, cause it was easier than making and mounting a disk. It worked fairly well, though it got a large amount of air resistance off the flails which caused the robot to spin in the opposite direction, even with the 4wd. It would probably be more effective with shorter flails with heavier weights, as it would reduce the windage. Also, stick to ~8v (2 cell) batteries; I ran Flail Whale on 3 cell at first, and it caused many more problems than it was worth...

Small note, there's already an antweight called Cannon Fodder, so you'll have to choose a different name I'm afraid .

Re: suvv industries first attempt at an ant
cool oddly enough i was thinking brake cables as what i was going to use aswell
and what about ether "fodder" or if thats taken "expendable"
does it show that im not optimistic of my chances

Best place to check for which names are used are in the past name list: http://www.teamshakey.com/aws/namelist.html

You just say your gonna call your robot that and it's your name to use :L Has to compete at an AWS to make it on the list..

im looking at this :
http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/stor ... Motor.html
if i was to dissasemble it and drill and tap 3 holes on the arms of the motor and bolt straight to that would that work or is that the dumbest idea in history
