Ah yes, this has come up in another thread. Somebody (I think it was Gary but may be wrong) said they got a bunch of batteries without standard plugs, so just got them replaced. Might be worth speaking to the supplier.

I had a few packs like this, but I just changed the plug myself. You were right about the colours, connect the red go the positive and the black to the negative of a new plug. And I just removed the blue one as I never balance charge such small batteries.

Personally I'd just find the female version of the connector and use that in the bot. I wouldn't advise removing the ability to balance it as while you'd probably be alright for a long time it is much better to balance.

Yes it was me that had the same problem. I got 3 batteries from HobbyKing, 2 were fine, one had only the balance connector.

Having had a more thorough look through HobbyKing's listings for Turnigy Nano-Tech batteries it seems there are a few versions of each size of battery available.
The standard batteries come with the 2-pin JST connector plus the 3-pin balance connector.
The "E-Flite" (compatible) batteries come with just the 3-pin connector. Presumably this is what the E-Flite models use.
There are also some that come with a third type of connector for Traxxas cars.

The 3-pin connector is the JST XH series. Probably the easiest way to buy them is pre-wired as they're not expensive:

HobbyKing are even showing them in stock in the UK warehouse at the moment!

My Partner in Crime Steph has just posted some vids of the Robototron Mk2 fights. on her Youtube. I realise that the stream of the whole thing covers them just as well but might be of interest:

I am assured fight 4 and 5 are on their way.

Quick question.

Is there a single channel/ motor speed controller about at all?

They exist is the answer. Scorpion minis for example. But they can be kinda hard to get hold of. You can use modified larger servo boards if you're that way inclined but I always found that route a bit prone to bugs.

If you're talking about bi-directional control, the best one for ant use is the Fingertech TinyESC. Technobots sell these in the UK, but unfortunately they're out of stock at the moment.

So Robototron MK 3 did ok at Ant Freeze. It won 1 fight out of three. And survived Slice to meet you. Given its Acrylic nature It was a minor miracle.

Lessons learnt:

Smaller battery at lower voltage made the bot too slow.
Need to focus more on good traction.
Practice!
A stronger Chassis is needed
Make the thing able to run upside down or be able to self right

The plan for Robototron MK4 is to make a strong drive module witch serves as a mounting point for various weapon systems. Least that the grand plan.

Now to rebuild prior to AWS...
