Re: Another New Antweight..
Some minor developments have occurred.
Firstly, I discovered that Dymo tape name tags make anything at least 50% more awesome:
And secondly, I am now in possession of a lot of wheels... hopefully to be followed shortly by a lot of LemonRxs and a lot of motors:
Hopefully, I'll have more interesting news shortly.

Yeah, Bully Dozer has been upgraded since the AWS to improve it's traction and it's scoop, so should now be even more of a bully
Fun fact for you Dave; At full throttle, the tips of Flail Whail's flails are theoretically moving at over 500mph, or about mach 0.6 8)
Also..Gooo Nuts!

Re: Another New Antweight..
Wo..600mph sounds a bit mental
Re: Another New Antweight..
Ok, so decided I needed to practice driving my ants before the next competition. But you can only get so much practice driving by yourself, so I could really do with an opponent. My brother is busy atm, so my only other option was clearly to build an ant that could drive itself..
Being too lazy to do any fancy electronics, I just went with my old favourite relay logic. Using two relays, a cardboard box, and a lot of copper wire, I threw this together:
The mess of wires that is the insides:
It has edge and wall detection, which is about the bare minimum needed for an autonomous ant. It works ok, but I think the challenge is gonna be trying to keep it in the arena rather than pushing it out; it does have a tendency to drive out the arena quite a bit. Still, should be fun trying to fight it
It could have been done without the two relays, but it would make it less reliable, and it's unreliable enough as it is!
I got a video of it working here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L8QsjfJ ... e=youtu.be

Re: Another New Antweight..
i don't do an awfull lot of live combat practise as my brother isn't the least bit interested and my parents are utterly useless drivers. what i do is set up some small obstacles in my practise arena that i made and practise pushing them/flipping them/dumping them out. it's great fun.
