Re: Epic Robotics
Hi all! I'm building again currently, preparing for the next AWS. It was only a short break this time but it's definitely reinvigorated me.
I've always said that even if my robots don't win, I would like them to at least be interesting and/or different. The new version of Void is hopefully going to have a lot of general funkiness and silliness. As a preview, here's a prototype of it's brushless drive:

Re: Epic Robotics
I love it because while I know it been cunningly engineered it looks brilliantly like someone's got half a gear motor and a brushless and glued them together, this could be best or the worst drive we've ever seen, although having said that making it slower and more uncontrollable than mecha spall would be a challenge...
Team Badger
Has a 3d printer now yay
-£4.82+VAT (intact)
-cool modulated printed thingy
-not yet built nasty mean spinnt thingy
I'm gonna build something huge and stupid, try and stop me

Re: Epic Robotics
That does look very interesting Scott have you found a source of small reversible brushless controllers.
Re: Epic Robotics
Now I'm excited!
The afro brushless ESC's can be made reversible escs quite easily.

Re: Epic Robotics
Thanks for the kind words!
I'm currently using the XC-6A from Micron. It works quite well, and while they do reverse quickly, I feel it could be faster. However, as far as I can tell the hardware of this board is identical to an ESC which is commonly sold under the name "XP-7A", which has a BLHeli firmware file available for it. So I intend to flash them with that and see how that affects performance.

AP03, 2s version, also from Micron. Hobbyking sell it as well though.

Re: Epic Robotics
Ah cool, those are much easier to mount than the ones from HK that Pete and I use for our Nano spinners.. Shame they're quite pricy
