Re: Epic Robotics
This forum and Antweights in general need more of this creativity welcome back.
Re: Epic Robotics
Scott, that is super amazing.
So it's an in-wheel brushless motor/gearbox?
Did you use the Hackspace 3d printer? Or your own one?
The Hackspace Ultimaker 2+ is actually quite nice.
What about the electronics? Did you get some reversible brushless controllers? Maybe we need to design some custom electronics?

Robots: Betsie - RaspberryPi controlled flipper bot with gyro stablisation - too clever for her own good?

Re: Epic Robotics
Yup! Smaller and lighter than an N20 on it's own, never mind that it's also a wheel.
The parts were ordered from Shapeways; they are too thin to print well on FDM machines really. I did some test prints with my home printer and wasn't happy with the strength of them. The smaller of the pieces that encloses the gearbox is only 1mm at it's thickest point.
Electronics wise, I've ordered some of these to test out: https://www.unmannedtechshop.co.uk/teen ... -in-1-esc/, which I'd need to run two of as I'm going 4wd.
Ideally for 4wd, I'd like one of these: https://fishpepper.de/projects/tinypepper2/, but there's only one store making and selling them at the moment, and they're US based.

Re: Epic Robotics
I expect we can print them using some clever techniques, perhaps with the PA-CF (carbon fibre) filament at Rlab. Message me if that sounds interesting.

Re: Epic Robotics
Looks great, it'd be nice to see brushless drive working in an ant.
