Re: Peter Wallers Robot Ramblings
Thought I would have a go at making Alsoran a bit lighter to give more leeway on Combatant in the cluster.
Here are two SG50 servos with the electronics removed and the motors driven from the Rx43 400ma outputs.
So far all up weight as below with single cell lipo is 13.5 gms.

I didn't realise that this new CombatAnt was still going to be part of the cluster. Whoever is driving Alsoran better be good at keeping out of the way!

Re: Peter Wallers Robot Ramblings
I always had it in mind but wasn't sure I could get Combatant light enough without compromising the strength.
As it has turned out it is 113gms with the tyres added which will go up a bit when I get the wider wheels so I need to get alsoran down from 40 to 30 gms.

I was looking at how light I could build a robot, that is...considerably lighter than I worked out with the parts I had Excellent work as always Peter, you could concievably do a five way clusterbot with that design! (now that would be a bit insane...)

Re: Peter Wallers Robot Ramblings
I have now made some wheels for Alsoran and finished it of sandwiched between two sheets of 0.45mm fibreglass.
Here it is without the lid:
And here the final robot :
It has come out at 30.1 gms but with servo drive off one cell it is predictable slow. (I might have to rename it Alsocrawled)

Re: Peter Wallers Robot Ramblings
Some of you have probably noticed that to enable my horizontal spinners to run upside down I have epoxied a small ball bearing onto the top of the motor shaft to give a domed bearing surface for the spinner. The problem with this is it lifts the front of the spinner even higher than it is. I have just found that if you pack the robot to be horizontal and put a blob of epoxy on the end of the shaft so it covers the flat end of the shaft it forms it self into a nice dome before it sets.
