Re: Earthwormjim's Stuff
I always put masking tape on cabon,as the edges rip and tear easily, with tape on both sides,it stops the ripping to a degree. Try on a spare bit until you get the knack.
Also,a good tip is once you have drilled it,lightly sand it and then put a bead of cyano (super glue) on your finger, and run it around the inside of the hole,it seals the edge, and stops it from catching and ripping.
Here is a pic of 10mm holes drilled in 1mm carbon...

Are you going to be able to come out to play with any of these soon Jim? AWS in Reading? We still haven't seen Raoul in action, never mind Scarab! Hope so.

Oh,also Harry...
Make sure you put a block of wood behind the carbon you are drilling,or it will rip for sure,as the drill bit comes out the other side.

Re: Earthwormjim's Stuff
We have lift-off!
Scarab is go.
I dont have any armour on it yet,but fully wired up,it weighs 104g...
And it all fitted in pretty neatly...
It goes and everything, and it self rights too! 8)
It has a 180mah 2s nanotech lipo,540 rpm micro gear motors from ebay,a graupner DS 3288 bb mg servo, and a baby orangutan controller with a micro Rx31 reciever.
At the mo,it is 28mm high,100mm wide, and 65mm long. I may gain a cm in length once I have made the 1mm Ti scoop on the front.

I still hate 3D printing...haha.
No, nice work Jim, as always. Are those tiny controllers commercially available? Do they only work with certain equipment?

Cheers Dave.
The baby orangutan controllers are made by pololou,so you can get them from the usual pololou outlets.
I got mine from here...http://proto-pic.co.uk/categories/Robot ... ntrollers/.
You do need a programmer to program it with, and all the software that goes along with it!
But once you get it all set up,there is a standard file you can use to program it up with on board mixing that works a treat!
I have a separate 6v regulator running the flipper servo.
Along with the Rx31 reciever,it is a tiny package, and so far it runs great!
I have setup the dual rates at 50% for when I am in the arena, coz it is way too fast, really. Great fun though.
