Thank you so much! I hadn't thought of it that way, I was putting the mount in first! Very clever to design it like that. Thanks so much. All we have to do now is make it!

Felt it was time for something a little on the weirder side for a robot:

Image

A chainsaw wielding ant! Using a bosch nanoblade connected to an 1806 motor, at the moment just static in the chassis. This version is very much a simply get something working one rather than what I'd aim for for serious competition. My next step will be to turn this into a walker to gain the weight to actuate the saw.

I'll do a test video once the proper batteries for it turn up.

This looks awesome!! Funnily enough, I was wondering the other day how effective power tool wielding ants could be, considering they would be up against mostly plastic. Any ideas for a name yet?

Pfeh, chainsaw? Ha! Any of the cool kids could tell you that Jigsaw Blades is where it's at. *cough*
I kid, that looks amazing! I wanna fight it! AWS60? Not losing a fight against you is one of my life's success criteria!

Very awesome! I wonder if there are flames if that weapon drills through a lipo
You beat me to making a drill ant  started CADding something roughly a few weeks back - I think you're a few months ahead there :P
https://i.ibb.co/Ybb2ZNR/image.png lol!

Hows the drill at getting through armour? Spur point bits tore into plastic the best with the little testing i started.

One day we can have a drill-off! if i ever manage to finish my version.

I had plans for a drill bot for a long time but talking with Carl on Wednesday/Thursday kinda pushed me to actually start. tested out how to get the drill and motor together on Thursday, CADed Saturday and built today.

Forgot to link a test video:

I think that might be a good style of drill to try, I just selected drills by buying a small range from screwfix on my way home and seeing which started a hole best.

I can only dream to be that efficient and speedy making new bots  :P
That's just terrifying how fast it gets through plastic! Free bot ventilation service
Going to be great to see it compete! (Y)

What plastic do you use for your Armour, and how do you cut it out?

is it a case of a sharpie and careful use of a coping saw?

thanks

It's all polycarbonate of normally 1.5mm thick. For cutting I have a small CNC router, so I simply design the plates in CAD with the rest of the bot, program up the machine and it'll cut them out.
