Often the motor just stutering is due to some of the windings in the motor not making contact.
On brushess motors the windings are enameled to prevent them shorting out and if you have shortend the wires coming out of the motor you need to scrape this off the ends of the wires where you solder them to the comtroller to ensure a good solder joint. If you haven't shortend them then just ignore this.

calling all people with acsess to a lathe/other fancy things
hey making another drum spinner and wondered if anybody would be able to A: lathe a hole down the center of the drum for a brushless outrunner to sit in. B: maybes put some holes in it so i can tap an m4 thread into them C: have some alu stips that can be bolted to the drum as aposed to teeth.
i would have a bash at this myself but i have no acsess to a lathe for the next few weeks.
