Re: Dual motor Axe bot
Not sure of the exact weight, but without the case they are pretty much the same size as a no-pin lemon rx, or a dasmikro, so will be in the same kind of range as those.

Re: Dual motor Axe bot
I wouldn't worry too much about power, there's simply no way to make a damaging antweight axe, but don't let that stop you - axebots are great fun. As others have said, it can be done by simply wiring both motors to a single channel esc, and running off of the rudder channel for control. For Axiom I...

Re: GeorgeR's robots
I use "EMA plastic weld" and find it works very well, apply it to both parts, then clamp them together for a few hours.
Be aware that the chemicals it contains (methylene chloride) are really VERY nasty, always use in a well ventilated area and wear gloves to avoid any skin contact.

Re: Dys or redcon brushless motors.
The Redcon 2204 that was popular for a while has been discontinued. The dys be1806 can be found in a variety of places, banggood have some currently, and there are a load on ebay. The other option that is gaining popularity is the Quanum Be1806 - you can find them on hobbyking.

Re: Power connectors identification / naming
1) JST RCY connector; sometimes called a "bec" connector.
2) yep, those are JST-XH connectors.
3) 1s lipos come with a variety of different connectors, but the most common seem to be the Molex Picoblade (that's what the small nano-tech ones have).

Re: Brushless motors
Yeah, I definitely suspect the battery is the culprit in this case, those 180mah ones will struggle in a spinner, especially with a powerful motor like that 2204. I use the 260mah 35c ones in Vampire and Valkyrie, and a 300mah 45c in RBMK. Despite the higher power lipos Valkyrie is the only one I ca...

Re: Brushless motors
Short answer - yes and yes. It's a common issue, but with the right setup you can get a very quick spin-up. There are two issues in play here; the first is that brushless motors can draw a huge amount of current at low speeds, and the small batteries used in ants can struggle to provide this current...

Re: Botbitz 10 amp ESCs for weapon
I'd say the botbitz 10a is definitely on the large side. If you're looking for a single channel esc the fingertech tinyesc, or the Vex 29 are much better choices. I use the vex to drive my axebot weapon motors and it's worked great.

Re: AWS rule polls 2019
All looks good to me.
Probably a good call to write down the rule regarding the aggressor winning in the event of both bots entering the pit together.

Re: GeorgeR's robots
Just want to say, your robots are really neat, I love the aesthetics of them - particularly Valkyrie and RBMK. I don't think I've seen any other robot quite like this one! Many thanks, I'm glad you like them. Personally I'd much rather build something different and interesting than just go all out ...
