Re: Rule 3c - Arena Drop-off

How about leaving the drop-off in, but not the full width of the arena? You could use any 45 to 90 degree corner and a wall length of 50% of robot width to avoid the issue of pushing robots pushing other robots out of the drop-off along the wall. The corner would act as an 'end stop' but still allow...

Re: AWS 41

Schools and colleges might be up for this, they're often able to hire out their facilities evenings or weekends to boost school funds. I'm happy to ask my local schools if people want me to poke around?

Re: AWS 41

Village halls/community halls are pretty readily available, but they usually charge per-hour. Are the community up for an 'entry fee' per robot to cover the hall hire? If so the possible venues expands dramatically. Quick maths... Most halls near me seem to charge £10-£20/hour. At £20/hour a ten hou...

Re: Arduino - Speed controller issue

Disclaimer: I don't have an Arduino to test this on and haven't developed for Arduino before. The code below is based upon my interpretation of the reference guide I found here: http://arduino.cc/en/Reference/Servo You run the code below at your own risk. Something very basic might be: #include <Ser...

Re: AWS 41

I'm not far from Reading in Thatcham. If there's any way I can help make it happen (e.g. set-up/tear-down or loan of projectors, laptops etc) let me know.

Re: Arduino - Speed controller issue

That code looks overly complex to test a simple servo connection. I would strip it back to control a single speed controller, so one Servo object, no serial link and just hard-code a pulse-width to begin with. 1.5ms (1500us) is the mid-point so maybe code 1250us as your test value. That way your spe...

Re: I'm giving up

Just plug the battery into a spare channel, make sure + in on the middle pin of the receiver and you won't break anything. I think for your receiver - is closest to the edge. If it doesn't work put negative on the other side. I think there may be edge cases where you could break something with this...

Re: How to run a better AWS?

I think you might have hit on something Joey! I was thinking that AntLog couldn't give the visibility of up-coming fights. However, not that I've thought about it a little more I can see that all the information is there and it should be easy to make a form showing the next 4 or 5 fights so that th...

Re: How to run a better AWS?

Don't assume that he's putting a lot of effort in in the hope that it will become the de facto standard, anymore than he might be putting a lot of effort in because he's enjoying building it. I appear to be shockingly transparent :D Edit: Until we do have another thread, here's some more feedback. ...
