I'll keep it in mind that homemade saws are a pain in the <beep!> to make.

The blade I had on Milky Joe was 1.5mm thick. Weighed over 30g. It's a possibility, but perhaps a bit dangerous for your first ant... http://www.extremefightingmachines.co.uk/cgi-bin/discus/board-profile.cgi?action=pict&file=5444.gif Bottom left. Not only are they about 0.3mm but their radius i...

Simon, I saw the, um, Antweight Music Video, I learned a few things, for example spinners/saws are more used for pushing than cutting, and how important it is to be in control 100% of the time, as the arena is SO small! For a spinner/saw, how would a hardened-steel fabric-cutting disc perform? Mum ...

Thanks everyone, I think I have all the pros and cons of various discs registered. Did an A-level on testing discs? There's a thought.....

Thank you EpicentrE, your theory sounds sound, the disc should probably have teeth. Also I'm wondering whether or not the disc should be horizontal, seeing as a lot of robots I see look very very vulnerable to vertical attack, ones with exposed components etc. Basically, if we can make the motor/ser...

Simon and Adam,
Number One the disc is without teeth (that will most probably change), about 15mm in radius and <=10g.

Oh, also, everybody, we got free polycarbonate from the school's DT Dept so no worries there.

Nick

PS: What do you mean by slitting, Adam?
