Re: 3 week, 'zero' budget feather

Ok, so I hadn't noticed that the larger weight classes weren't active on this forum till after I made this thread, so i'll it off with the results and leave it at that. This is what i ended up with: https://fbcdn-sphotos-g-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-frc3/t1.0-9/10168034_10152033472316845_619434504663...

Re: Another New Antweight..

Newly repaired Lionel with a poly-carbonate top. http://i.imgur.com/BusGaku.jpg?1 It's a little on the thin side at only 1mm, but it's all I've got atm (that's not 6mm which is too heavy). Also planning another ant (possibly a spinner) before next AWS; work will start on that around the start of Jun...

Re: Power drain? two servos and esc.

If you want to get the full power out of your servos, you could always use an adjustable regulator to supply the maximum 6v to the servos... the only tricky bit about that is picking the right resistors to adjust the regulator, but there are online calculators which'll work them out for you. Most re...

Re: Power drain? two servos and esc.

The exact values aren't important as long as they're as high as the minimum specified on the datasheet. It's always best to try and use the highest value output cap you can (within reason) so that the voltage is stable even with high current spikes. 100uF is usually a good bet. The input cap is less...

Re: Batteries

Yup, I use two of those 180 mAh lipos, and haven't had any problems with them!

Re: Thread for silly questions about rules!

I don't see any real problems with it, and it could make some of the long fights less tedious. I can't see it cutting a very measurable time off the total length of an AWS though, as very few fights go on that long, and at a minute's saving for each, that's not gonna add up to much. In short: I thin...

Re: AWS44 - Brize Norton, Oxfordshire

I'm sure Lionel shall be happy to make a return. Hopefully have another ant together by then as well :)

3 week, 'zero' budget feather

So I heard that there was a featherweight fight happening on the 16th of April at the Fleet Air Arm museum. It being only a few miles away, and not owning a feather weight robot, I thought I'd come and watch. Then I heard it was free entry for the roboteers. ...So I decided I would see if I could bu...

Re: TinyTwo Speed Controllers

All the current for the motors is handled on the left hand side of the board in the picture, so the large, noisy current isn't sent through the vias on either the +ve or 0v. I'll try out some lower value capacitors across the voltage rails; I had a single 4.7uF one on the last set of boards. I need ...

Re: Long Term Future of AWS's

It depends what level of growth we're talking about; It seems that more and more people are doing antweights these days due to lower costs and easier availability of parts etc, and theirs no sign of that trend stopping just yet. How would we get on if say in a few years time we had 200 entrants, or ...
