Re: Pre modded servo boards for escs?

So finally... just tested the other type of Feetech FT90R esc as arrived today; what I’ll call the “Feetech short board”. Good news is it’s got a clean dead band and supplies full voltage to the motor. Bad news is that the proportional response sucks - not much gradation between off and full throttl...

stop press

Doh! Just after I hit submit on that last update, postman arrived bringing a second batch of 10x Feetech FT90R servos, with which I was planning to build up my stock of "Poor Man's Nano" controllers. And guess what? Yup - totally different boards from the last batch. This time, instead of ...

Test results

Regarding the differing experiences when testing the Doman servo boards, thanks to Mike (Ant Ipodean) the mystery is solved. He very kindly airmailed me one of his stock of Doman boards to test. When I repeated my tests using Mike's board, my observations were the same as his, i.e. there is a clear ...

Re: Follow up on Digital CR Servo Board ESCs

Since bench tests are no substitute for the real driving experience, yesterday I knocked up a rough and ready test bot, based on a simple 4wd pusher, to see how the Feetech servo board-based ESC would perform. https://i.imgur.com/tAH7ZJo.jpg https://i.imgur.com/17boUwH.jpg Suffice to say, I’m deligh...

Re: N20 motor rating

Sorry for the dumb question but how does one measure the stall current? Is it simply a case of connecting a DMM in series with the motor, powering up, then stopping it from turning? I have a cheapo autoranging Neoteck DMM and I'm comfortable using it for voltage/resistivity/continuity testing but I'...

Re: Follow up on Digital CR Servo Board ESCs

For the hard-core chip spotters among you... With the aid of a stereomicroscope and careful side-lighting, I managed to decipher the almost invisible writing on the two chips mounted on the Feetech controller board. The microcontroller is a 20-pin quad-flat package marked 3AQ20 The other chip, is a ...

Re: Follow up on Digital CR Servo Board ESCs

Hi Mark, There are two 8-pin DIP chips on that board - one on either side. On the side where the leads are soldered there's one marked 'FZMOS-5X 20160720'. Pins 5 and 8 are soldered to the motor leads. The 8-pin DIP on the other side is absolutely unmarked - checked under microscope and there's noth...

Follow up on Digital CR Servo Board ESCs

So, further to earlier discussion under the thread 'Pre modded servo boards for ESCs', I did some more testing over the weekend. Not as much as I would have liked (weather was OK so had no excuse not to be repainting window frames :( ) but enough to spark my interest. As per that other thread, idea ...
