I'm using it as a temporary hinge, might just leave it now :)

Thanks for the servo recommendations, turns out my current one is a little too big so that'll come in handy.

The 3D printed chassis arrived today and I'm very happy with it.

I think the robot is faithful to the original design, with some notable differences.

I've got all the components, should just be a case of getting to work at the weekend.

Interesting design, like the axe style bar, looks dangerous.

Re: Thinking about a one off competition.

Nevermind, I just found a Hitec HS 82 MG in the shed :)

Don't know why I rejected it all those years ago. Anyone else forget parts around the house?

Thinking about a one off competition.

My only competition was about 7 years ago with a robot called Antebellum. I'm thinking about building a new robot (a Firestorm rip off) with some of the parts I've still got knocking around. The only thing I'm lacking is a flipper motor. What metal gear servos are people using these days? I've proba...

Re: Advice

In the end I found my D2 board worked after all. I have no soldering iron, could I find a adaptor so I can run from the battery voltage?

One thing I noticed is that the servo tends to stall on low battery, but otherwise good performance.

Advice

I am trying to re-learn my robot building skills in my summer break. I have everything I need apart from, A powerful, robust, metal gear servo bigger (than an MG90 prefered) Some kind of rod I could use to connect the servo horn to the flipper. Any help would be great, and I hope to compete again on...

Re: AWS 43- University of Reading- Sat 8th March 2014

I have never been to AWS and I feel i'm missing out. I am interested so I might come along if I can build a new robot. I need advice on building one to resist spinners would slanted 1mm stainless encourage a spinner to bounce off or is that insufficient.
