Re: Antweight Rules Proposal
I don't like the idea of someone having a fully working robot as a spare either, it just feels wrong. But the only way to outlaw it is to either limit the type of spares people can bring, which I think would be crazy given the nature of combat robotics and the difficulty of deciding what is and isn'...

Re: Antweight Rules Proposal
Regarding bot modularity and when is it a different bot - what about spare chassis (EG. Like Cosmic had)? I don't see an issue with any level of spare parts, including a new chassis. (I certainly wouldn't call Cosmic a different robot with the new chassis). In fact, many robots don't even have a si...

Re: Antweight Rules Proposal
That sounds like a very sensible plan Shakey. In which case I would absolutely support the current wording. It certainly appears to cover all the relevant points. I know I said before, but did anyone else have a view on heat based weapons? (obviously it can wait 'til a later date if it's controversi...

Re: Antweight Rules Proposal
With regards to clusters, I don't see a problem with only running one part of a cluster if the other part has been destroyed, but only if the cluster would still be legal if all parts were running. (so no adding extra armour with the weight that would be part of the unused robot) I don't think modul...

Re: Antweight Rules Proposal
Reading through it all again I've mostly changed my mind - the suggested way does make more sense, particularly with the clarity on the start of the countdown. With 4k, I think my unease came from the use of the term "overturn the fight result", maybe it would sound better if the end of th...

Re: Antweight Rules Proposal
Another quick thing, on 4c, shouldn't the immobilisation be retrospectively considered from when the robot stopped moving? (rather than when the judges started the count)
You wouldn't want someone to lose because the judges were a bit slow start the count.

Re: Antweight Rules Proposal
Overall that looks really good, I particularly like the walker expansion, more unique antweights is definitely a good thing. There are a couple of things I would change though; 1) on rule 2g I'd add heat based weapons as well as flame weapons (for those that haven't seen it, at BBB someone runs an a...

Re: AWS 60 - Headington, Oxford - 30th Nov 2019
I think the decision was consistent with how the rules have been applied in the past, but I do think the rule is a poor one, and one that should be changed. Firstly; I don't believe Cosmic Burgervan counted as being pitted. The majority of the robot was still in the arena - if Combatant hadn't gone ...

Not sure about the twitch, but Harry filmed it, and has said the video will be up on YouTube tomorrow evening. Search for "Team Panoramic" on youtube.
