Re: fleas

Well, the new flea performed abysmally. It lost its only two fights within about 30 seconds. It is clear that he needs some quicker motors. The new chassis also incorperates sides. I have ordered up some 10:1 ratio motors so he will go from abysmally slow to ridiculously fast. This is a good change ...

Re: AWS 41 - Caerphilly 27th July 2013

Great event guys, even though my robots performed abysmally I thoroughly enjoyed myself and I have a lot of new ideas. As we speak I am armed with a cup of coffee and diving into a new sketchup for the fleaweight! Huge thanks Rhys and grats to Scott! The big screen was a great idea also, would like ...

Re: fleas

This is just about a year of stifled robotic creativity being unleashed in a small space of time. I will most likely run out of steam after about a month and end up returning to the days of drilling holes in my robot the night before to get it underweight.

Re: fleas

For those interested, here is the new design: http://img802.imageshack.us/img802/3866/2p.png The one on the right is the current robot chassis, and the left is the new design. It has a top plate also. As you can see it is slightly larger with tabs for affixing sides and an extended front plate. Ther...

Re: fleas

So the new Flea is done. Naturally, I have finished redesigning the entire chassis within the hour. I am happy with it, but I know I could probably do better with time. The new chassis is slightly wider and longer so it can incorporate side armor also, but the current design is what we will be runni...

Getting an accurate volume in Sketchup

Hi guys I have transferred a lot of my work into sketchup over the past month, and have shapeways printed a lot of bits and bobs. My major concern is that my latest two prints were horrifcally over the weight I calculated. I calculated the weight using the volume that shapeways gave me, and I am inc...

Re: fleas

Update! http://imageshack.us/a/img194/5761/rc00.jpg We got the battery plug working, and there is still enough weight for the wheels and a bit of carbon fibre armor! http://imageshack.us/a/img32/8268/rcu7.jpg Here is what we did with the plug. Pretty simple in essence, but difficult due to size and ...

Re: Noob in need

Hi there Tom Welcome to the community! Right, there are 4 main things you are gonna need for your ant. Firstly, Power. Most people use a Lithium Polymer (LiPo) battery. These have enough oomph to power an ant for a while and can be recharged. They also have a pretty damn long life. There are loads y...

Re: fleas

As I mentioned in my post on the Antweight thread, I am in the process of reviving my current team with shapeways, and this included a fleaweight I have long been planning. So here is Salt in his current state http://img153.imageshack.us/img153/8792/f9n2.jpg Hes running off one of Peter's fantastic ...
