Re: Tx and RX question
It is the receiver that gets bound to the transmitter. Although the transmitter has to send a bind message it doesn't know which receiver(s) are bound to it. Consequently several receivers can be bound to the same transmitter but each receiver can only be bound to a single transmitter. If you want t...

Re: First time building diary: Third Law
I think it's fair to say that cutting 1mm polycarbonate with scissors is easy enough, but that extra half a mm makes all the difference! Tin snips and wire cutters are a good suggestion for when the going gets too tough for scissors.

Re: Best battery for transmitter
That charger will be perfect for the NiMH batteries and will also be suitable for LiPo batteries when you want to get a bit more advanced. Note that the charger runs off 12V DC so you will need a suitable mains adaptor to go with it. There are some very similar chargers that have a mains power suppl...

Re: Best battery for transmitter
First of all, welcome! We're a friendly bunch (outside the arena at least) and this forum is a wealth of information. That transmitter and receiver looks fine for an antweight, plenty of channels and memories for when you get on to your second, third... robots :) You may want to check that "Mod...

Re: Dorset Robot Championship
Looks good, and I don't see any reason why day 2 couldn't be an AWS. Given a reasonable turnout the extra events (sumo etc) may have to be for the Friday only as it generally takes all day to get through the AWS fights. If you had a separate space (and people!) to run the obstacle course in parallel...

Re: New Arena
Size: We're planning on making the PC box around 1.2m x 1m, with a small trench between the arena and walls - does that sound about right? We don't want it too big and drag out battles, but I can't stand a small arena! A 1.2x1m box sounds about right, but what size fighting area does this give you?...

Re: Team Coolspeedbot's robot builds
A switch like this might be suitable: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Pushbutton-switch-sub-miniature-SP-N-O-High-quality-new-Miyama-part-MS-402-Qty-1-/122344138128?_trksid=p2385738.m4383.l4275.c10 You will have to open up the Dx5 and check how much space you have against the size of the component. Don't ...

Re: Kosmos Build Diary
The robot only needs to fit in a 4 inch cube, it isn't limited to a 4 x 4 base. By fitting the robot diagonally in the cube it can be a lot longer than 4", but any acetate does need to fit in the cube. Bits poking out are not allowed!

Re: Using multiple small LiPos
It is the very thin size of those batteries that limits the discharge rate. They will (just) cope with 10C discharge so they might just work in an antweight as long as you change them between every fight.
