Re: Newbie saying hello and looking for local(ish) events.

There's been a couple of events in Caerphilly previously, and may be one coming up in the near(ish) future. But chances are you'll have to travel as those have been the only two events in Wales ever!

Where abouts are you from?

Re: 3D Printing - machine costs and 'hiring' enquiry

I'm very pleased with my cheap 3d printer. I have the hephestos i3, which was just over £300 I think. I know a few other people on here use the same one and have got some decent results. Printing costs are pretty negligible. You'd be looking at a few pence per robot. I'm going to be hopefully doing ...

Re: Proposed rule changes 2015

Wow, that escalated quickly, I didn't even get to put my votes in before the whole agree/disagree posts... For the record: 1) None of my business as I don't build them, but I prefer the 50mm limit as it creates a nice differentiation between weight classes. 2) Yes. The 3 minute time limit is a real ...

Re: AWS 47 - Stoke Sub Hampton - July 4th 2015

Sorry for the late notification, but its looking unlikely I'll be able to make it this weekend. I think I underestimated how much damage I took at the last event. I had a look tonight and they're pretty much all damaged beyond repair. They certainly need more work than I can put in between now and S...

Re: AWS 47 - Stoke Sub Hampton - July 4th 2015

I've used Antlog for two events and it really is the most user friendly thing ever. Just do a pretend practice event so that you know exactly how to set it up. A few bits of advice: - When doing sign up and tech check, create a separate new spreadsheet with the team name and robot names on. Then if ...

Re: Team Shakey Build Diary

I usually use these for 2mm id pvc tubing. Not sure how airtight they will be with 2.5mm id tubing though.

Re: Spur Gears

There's a plugin for sketchup called Involute Gears. You give it the number of teeth and diameter and it draws it for you.

Yeah, same here. I'll definitely be there with 4 ants, but they will all be last minute builds, so I'm not sure what I'm bringing.

Pete's arena? Providing he doesn't mind bringing it along.
