Re: AWS 61 - Wolverton, Milton Keynes - 15th March 2020

OMG - just watched the video (thanks Harry!) Had no idea that Recycler got the award for "Most Destructive Robot" - Anthony will be absolutely over the moon. Unfortunately we had to leave early to catch a train, so we weren't around to receive the certificate. Any chance someone can send i...

Team Antiquarian & Anthony's Ant Army AWS61 Report - Part II

Luckily Anthony had a much better day than me, in terms of victories, though frustratingly he still didn't quite make it through to the final 16. Recycler Our best robot by far, Recycler came to AWS61 with a new drum, sporting a thinner profile and much sharper teeth. First fight, against 'No1. Best...

Team Antiquarian & Anthony's Ant Army - AWS61 Report Part I

Well that was a blast! First up, in case anyone was worried about Anthony's persistent coughing on Sunday, it wasn't Corona virus; just the after effects of a night in an overheated Travelodge (due to Sunday train timetables, a stop-over in MK was our only chance of getting to Wolverton in time). He...

Re: AWS 61 - Wolverton, Milton Keynes - 15th March 2020

Yay for everyone who made it. Impressive turnout, despite the plague. Sorry we weren't able to stick around and watch the final rounds & awards but with Sunday train timetables it was always going to be a long journey home. Utterly exhausted (and elbows mysteriously bruised) - but great fun was ...

Re: AWS 61 - Wolverton, Milton Keynes - 15th March 2020

For sanitary reasons, we might have to agree an alternative etiquette to the customary handshake after each fight. Maybe a martial-arts style bow - or a gentle Tx bump.

Re: Mix for smoother steering

Thanks guys - as always I've left it too late to get any driving practice (pah - that's what events are for!) but I will try a few more Mix options. I dare say eventually I'll want to go down the route of making my own ESCs too - just need to get over my phobia of soldering surface mounted component...

Re: Team Antiquarian & Anthony's Ant Army ready for battle

You might want to see how they do on Sunday before hitting the 'Order' button!

Mix for smoother steering

Morning all, Another DX6i question I'm afraid. Should have worked this out by now but still got me foxed. If I'm using Tx mixing on the Spectrum, is there a way to make the steering less sensitive/twitchy without reducing straight line speed? I'm finding a lot of the time that small sideways stick m...

Re: Flipper weapon switch mod for DX6i

Well that was easy. Followed the instructions on the site Daniel linked to. Particularly liked the idea of using header pins to push in alongside the JST inside the crimp housing, so no soldering onto the Tx itself is required. Because I was in a hurry, for now I simply unscrewed one of the switches...

Re: Flipper weapon switch mod for DX6i

Brilliant! Thanks Daniel - that link is exactly what I was looking for. Will have a crack at this over the weekend and report back.

Definitely gonna have to finish my flipper before AWS61 now.
