Re: DisinfectANT - Antweight First Build Log

Ahh fate doesn't want to to finish this ant this month :( Drilling out the sheared screws to 1.6mm. Have to use the edge finder to make a x0 y0 point to reference from. https://image.ibb.co/jCoA5A/faceu-20181111140853.jpg Turns out that buying a cheap edge finder is not a good idea, since it whips i...

Re: DisinfectANT - Antweight First Build Log

Yea i dunno what i was thinking with M1... the model maker in me is showing through... Im making things too delicate. I am going to try and open up to 1.6 and find some better screws! Even if they stick out the top a little, i think the teeth will be the first things to make contact anyway. Learning...

Re: DisinfectANT - Antweight First Build Log

Thanks George, its a softer alloy alu. Going to be a problem yea. I have the nylon frame supporting the wings, but that's going to need a redesign on v2. Along with a lot of other things i am noticing now. Cheers TY! It will be coming together more next week :D Today has been a little frustrating. F...

Re: DisinfectANT - Antweight First Build Log

Had some help with this bit 0:D There is no way for me to make precise bends on metal in my workshop :-? .. i should probably have not been lazy, and 3D printed a jig for these to do it myself. https://image.ibb.co/eBqEHf/P801089-5-1.jpg 1.5mm alu ... i think i should have gone with 2.5mm or ...

Re: DisinfectANT - Antweight First Build Log

Thanks Shakey! Again, that's high praise from you sir :D I got a good deal on it, all in with PC. Same guy is selling a Sherline CNC Mill with PC for £850, can do alu, (with coolant upgrade >)mild steel and titanium on it. I'll hook you up if you are tempted ;) Im still faffing with it really, so di...

Re: DisinfectANT - Antweight First Build Log

Hah thanks George, that means a lot coming from you! :D I run a model making / 3d printing company for the day job, so making intricate and pretty stuff is no problem. But making something which will hold together and work in combat ... well.. we shall see  Hope to have some assembly and tests ...

Re: DisinfectANT - Antweight First Build Log

Getting all the bits together. Drum core fits perfectly, bearings press fit in. Problem is dont have an alan key small enough to tighten the locking worm screws  Time to buy yet more alan keys Removed the timing belt teeth from the drum to add in some slip to avoid motor stalling... and easier...

Re: DisinfectANT - Antweight First Build Log

Haha thanks Decode :D I have a bad habit of over engineering things (belt driven drum, prime example lol) so i think this bot could be made out of much fewer parts. But i think this version will look mean at least ;) Should have some assembly going on at the end of next week. Aiming to be built in 3...

Re: chassis dimensions for 3d print

Not experienced with combat bots, but I do run a 3D printing company :D (DLP FDM SLA DOD SLS methods) so i can advise on that. Go with 100% infill :) For a thin 1/2mm wall, you will not use many more pence of material, but will be much stronger. Also increase your feed rate slightly so it overextrud...
