but it's meant to hit the floor!
well.. not the floor, preferably, but if the front gets pushed up, like while being wedged into a wall, then i want it to hit whatever's pushing it. i got a few free hits that way before.

Re: Team BLEEP build diary
*redacts rant about wife* So, I'm not going to BotFest 3, after all, which means no more roboteering for the rest of the year. :( I'm still gonna finish the bots, though. It'll save time for the next one, whenever that will be. Curious Custard (the thwackbot) might be a bit of a dead end in it's cur...

Re: BotFest 3 (14th September 2019)
I was so hoping I could make this event, as I can't make AWS 59 due to my son's birthday, but it looks like I'll have to ferry my wife to the opticians instead, as they have crap hours and don't open Sundays. I had nearly 3 bots ready, too!

Re: ESC Sanity check
The big cap came attached. That's like a top-up tank for the battery, isn't it? Evens out voltage sags during sudden load, or something. I think I need space more than I need to worry about voltage sags, so I'm gonna lop it off.

Better, but still not quite right... https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/48676443526_1b7e09cd22_c.jpg It's now using 50:1 motors, and has the axe shaft mounted vertically. The shaft is threaded M3, so I can add almost anything as a bludgeon. I thought polycarb might crack after repeated hits with th...

Re: ESC Sanity check
In case anyone's interested, there is also a 3-way version of the ESC: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32946648379.html Mine arrived yesterday, and I'm gonna try sticking it in my axebot to control drive and the axe, rather than the DasMikro and Vex29 that it currently has. Should save a bit of spac...

Re: ESC Sanity check
I'm using the 1.8A version in a thwackbot. Seems okay so far, but I'm not exactly stressing it out. I was hoping the terminals on the PCB had holes through the board, for sausage-fingered soldering, but they seem to be single sided. :( edit: huh.. kyro's 3A board appears to have holes through the bo...

Re: Team BLEEP build diary
Before I post this, I'm sticking my fingers in my ears.. er... eyes? I'm not listening to advice! I like to make my own mistakes. :) With that in mind, here's a new project that's wrong on soooo many levels; Curious Custard! https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/48664318557_fc2f622ed3_c.jpg It's an an...
