Re: Much competition?
I'm working on my first beetle-weight at the moment! The facebook group I found was 'Beetleweight Robot Combat Discussion' which seems relatively active. If nothing else the 'Robots Live!' people seem to regularly have a beetleweight sideshow to enter; next one is at Grantham on the 23rd/24th June.

Re: Hello.... and I need a smart person :-P
Why is it when you post on a forum the problem you're trying to solve magically solves itself... I kid you not its up and running now! You need to invest in a rubber duck as per https://rubberduckdebugging.com/ the process of organising your thoughts to ask the question quite often gives you...

Re: Non AWS event possibly August 2018
Probably, always hard to know where work's going to send me, but I'm much more likely to make it back there than down south!

Re: First time building diary: Third Law
Ooh that was you! Hello!
Looked like you had the controls nailed to me. Sequel should be Asimov's 3rd Law, it might do what it's told
Got it on video during the lunch-time pusher rumble,

The blue LED also looks awesome

Re: My second Antweight Robot: "mV"
Survived Antfreeze 5, did so much better than expected, got lots of time in the arena. First round it wouldn't start, until I whacked the throttle to 100% and it did an awesome gyro backflip, still drove inverted and put up a good fight. Second fight, spinner was totally dead, I think I started it u...

Re: Ant Freeze 5 - 3rd Feb 2018 NEW DATE
My first event, what a great introduction to Ant Weights! My objective was to get there, so winning a few rounds was a great bonus; can't wait to see the videos. I might then actually have some idea what was going on! Only damage is 1 wheel that got explosively deconstructed, and a brushless motor, ...

Re: My second Antweight Robot: "mV"
Is it wrong to hope one of my spinners gets drawn against this? Bring it on! I'm totally open to the prospect of having a mangled lump of ex-robot to commemorate my first foray into Antweights; I was only supposed to be going along to watch, I slipped and accidentally made a couple of robots, just ...

Re: My second Antweight Robot: "mV"
How easy is it to bend the aluminium and what did you use to do it? It's only 0.8mm, it bends with a stern look! I bent 3 sides with a bench vice and the last with a pair or pliers. are you already a robot builder for other weights or something? You seem to know your stuff My job is seeming to know...

My second Antweight Robot: "mV"
Principle behind this one is to start with CAD/3D, the last one started with whatever I had laying around. So I did! and it looks remarkably like the plan. Mapped it out in Blender 3D; 'Unwrapped' the chassis mesh and printed it on a piece of paper; transferred that onto aluminium and cut it out. ht...

Re: Harpoon as weapon?
Bear in mind, if I'm reading the rules correctly, you'd only have 20 seconds to drag it around before the round was stopped and you were re-positioned.. and you'd never be able to drag them into a pit, although you could put them in the position to give them a good shove! I was wondering whether som...
