Re: The adventures of an antweight robot building nerb
A year on from my last build, I had enough parts lying around to make one more. The Ting Goes Grrrab - another machine of mine named after a dead meme, ya dun know - is a grabbing control bot resembling a dune buggy with big chunky Pololu wheels and a low wedge with an aluminium plate in it to reinf...

Re: Ant Freeze 8
I might sign up for this event since it may happen on the first weekend of February in Hinckley and I'm likely to be in the West Midlands area that weekend, so two birds, one stone thing. I have two flippers, a lifter and a pusher so obviously the last one is not allowed for variety's sake.

I do love 4-bar lifters and would love to make one should I ever know how to 3D print and design. Is there enough spare weight to put on more armour such as polycarbonate?

Re: My first antweight thread
Looks sharp! If only those 180maH LiPos did not get discontinued then you wouldn't have a weight issue. Only thing I can think of is maybe put a few holes in that flipper linkage to shave a gram or two off, but the flipper design looks like it can launch opponents high!

Re: The adventures of an antweight robot building nerb
Here is the product of the spare parts I had - 2-2 Liftman, which comes in at a trim 132g. A hybrid of Panic Attack and Vlad the Impaler of sorts with its lifting forks and fast motors (I thought they were 300RPM). Once again, it's run by parts bought from Bristol Bot Builders and got a bit of assis...

Ah, the hard cheese that grates back! That vertical disc looks terrifically unpleasant. Looking forward to it take an opponent to pieces!

The only one I've seen is Dark Eagle on a YouTube video. That's it. I'm no engineer or physicist or any sort of scientist, but it still sounds like a good grabber/control bot.

Re: What to do with old and leftover parts
Bit of a discovery after putting this new robot together. Turns out that the spare unused motors I had were around 600RPM, so while I was committed to making a 2WD box-shaped forklift, the drive turned out to be fast. Sitting on a goldmine for all this time... d'oh! I'm currently waiting for a VEX29...
