Re: Build Diary for a new antweight

Just appearing with an update to say I am still working on ants, I've had a break with my life getting in the way, but now I've got some time to work on some ants, and my next is a front hinged flipper, putting those custom ESCs to use. I've also figured out that MG90S servos are terrible for flippe...

Re: Problem with transmitter

I should think so unless the Nanotwo has a BEC of its own. Either way I'd go for it as its only cheap and i wouldn't want to risk it burning anything out. I tend to run NiMHs myself, despite them being less powerful. And I wouldn't know too much about binding different receivers to one transmitter, ...

Assuming you're using a 2S LiPo which should be around 7.4V, this should be able to take the input and output it to 5V which the receiver should be able to handle.

Re: Problem with transmitter

I think you'd buy a UBEC, or use ESCS with a BEC installed.

Re: Scruffs Build Log, incl Design with rookie errors

Are you using one servo to power the scoop or two if you're directly connecting them, or are you adding a separate linkage? Also will the wheels be outer or inner?

Re: Build Diary for a new antweight

Thank you for the tip, did exactly what you said and now it centres around the middle of the trims.

Re: Build Diary for a new antweight

Yeah I kinda limited myself by only buying one type of SMD. I'll buy the book with lots of different ones in next time, there's one for pretty cheap on eBay.

Re: Build Diary for a new antweight

So after making some purchases I have made a couple of very small, very light and very cheap ESCs out of servo boards and a few SMD chip resistors. It's not perfect, even with the trims all the way to the left or all the way up, there is still a bit of movement in them, but it's passable, and better...

Re: Axe motor/servo?

I actually had the idea to stick padlocks on a large Stanley knife blade axe head, as weights and maybe fit the motor with a gear missing some teeth on one quarter of the gear and fit the axe on a second gear connected up with an elastic band pulling it forwards, so when the gear spins the axe pulls...

Re: Blade tx setup

Yeah I replaced the brakes pair as quickly as I could. They made it practically impossible to control. And I've broken a couple of drill bits on even 1mm titanium so it might be worth sticking some WD 40 on it first. But yeah, I'd probably stick with polycarb armour, save titanium for the panels a s...
