Post AWS what needs doing update:

Stanley: Doesn't need any changes really but I still want to fit a self righter just in case. It's not a good robot to drive upside down.

HSOD: Just need to sort the battery compartment out a bit so it is more secure. The disc performed great and the motor supports took the brunt of any hits well, still running smoothly. Needs it's nano counterpart making!

Carbon: A bit dissapointed really, I'm going to move the flipper hing back to get more throw out of it and up the armour on the robot with the spare weight.

Sharkbait: Great little nano, survived a hit from inertia 2 aswell. I want to slightly alter the flipper to make it better.

In the works:
Second Nano: Probably going to be a grabber of some sort. I already have all the parts, just need to make it.

Geared Vertical Spinner:
So I finally got something put together with the plans and managed to test it out today. It works well though it needs some tweaking before it is ready to fight. The drive works better than I expected currently running off a 3cell on a Nano2HV prototype. I did have a bit of a self destruct in testing where one of the disc holding bolts came loose and fouled the chassis. This meant the disc was jammed into the chassis at about 60% throttle to a dead stop snapping the mounting. I've redesigned the disc adapter to be more reliable. The spinner is nice and damaging though with some good hits. I couldn't quite get it to full power as I started losing control of the drive but it was still good.

And a nice test video:

The self destruct at the end was the bolt coming loose on the disc I mentioned above.

Let me guess...Vertical Spinner of Doom? Looks good though. What motors do you use for your discs?

Nah this ones getting a proper name! And hey:
Remote-Controlled Dave wrote:Please actually name it Horizontal Spinner of Doom.

The motor in The geared spinner is one I've had for years, Hobbyking don't even sell it anymore. Closest to it is the one rory uses in flailwhale.

HSOD uses a 'turnigy aerodrive' motor *shrugs* Again just another motor I randomly had. None of my spinners had any planning put into motor choice past, "It was in the box!".

No idea, they all seem to be equally destructive, slight variations in how they hit and effect the other bot. We didn't directly fight them as we need them for saturday :P
