I guess I don't really have a choice in the name of it eh? :P Though there is one current issue with 'Horizontal Spinner of Doom'...

This was self inflicted at the maker faire, granted the hits were awesome it definitely needs something to take the sideload off the motor. For now I'm going to house it in some drilled rings of polycarb forming a pipe around the motor. It shouldn't touch but under impact the motor would touch the side transferring radial load to the rings not the shaft of the motor.

Also do you know what a DX6i doesn't have enough of? Switches.

For those who didn't see it in person, here's a summary:

This is the non dodgy one, the dodgy one is not responding to any amount of poking/dropping/reassembling so I modded the working one to be able to be used with Gimli and flippers well. :)

Just a little something to help my future efforts out. :)

A nice Reprap Prusa i3!

Just got to finish wiring this guy and then calibrate and he is good to go. I should also be able to upgrade him to print Polycarbonate, Nylon and Carbon fibre very easily :D

Also... STANLEY IS BACK! Kinda... Not really....
Image
This made me cry inside when I saw Rorys handiwork on Stanley at the open day :P Though don't worry the parts to fix him are on order!

Also inertias self destruct of the day:

A few new things in team shakey! :)

First up is 'Horizontal Spinner Of Doom' aka HSOD:

Image
Image
A nice undercutting horizontal spinner, it can still be controlled at full throttle as well. :) I thought it was about time I got in on the spinner business, can't leave all the fun to everyone else.

And a Nano weight, which is unamed right now (Naming a nano is hard).

With a heavily armoured receiver underneath:

Really the tape is there as without it I shorted the robot driving over an allen key. >.< It has a nice flipper that can just lift an ant and a 60mah Single Cell LiPo to keep it going. here it is with Stanley for scale:
Image

Also in the works is a nice Nano spinner, though I may be pushing the weight a bit on this one :S.

Parts to repair my ducted fan robot:

And a quick test into cheaper wheels since I am rapidly running out of Pololu tyres.
Image

As you can probably tell the 3D printer is working, and working nicely. I have it all setup ready to print:

Finally the team so far for the next AWS. The front left robot is a flea called Herbert which I may or may not be entering. For the main AWS the Nano will be clustered with the spinner and a fourth ant entered aswell.

Some test runs of a slightly earlier version of HSOD: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JMZcQGp ... e=youtu.be

Needless to say, I'm a little concerned about it...
