Final Update:

We are stand 39, situated in the Ground Floor Corridor (better than it sounds!)

Please try to arrive before 9:30 if at all possible, that way you won't get mixed up with the "public".

Enter via the rear doors, in Russell Road, right where the Park & Ride bus stops.
Sign in at the Organisers Desk, stand 44, just inside the rear doors.
You will need to give your name and pick up a badge holder.
If you don't already have an exhibitor's badge, you will need to get one from me, or I will try to leave some with the Organisers Desk.

From the rear entrance, go down the stairs, follow the stairs round to the right. At the bottom of the stairs, turn left. We are about 10 metres along the corridor in an alcove on the left.

The expenses claim has to be handed in by midday on Saturday. Expenses are paid by one cheque on Sunday, so can I have a volunteer to act as "banker"? We can sort this out on Saturday. Receipts are required. A booking confirmation may be OK if you haven't been to your hotel by Saturday noon.

The stand is all set up with 2 arenas, static display box and video screen. There is public access to 3 sides so we should be able to handle quite a large crowd. We have one power point for the projector and one for battery charging etc. We will have to use extension leads to provide more sockets, but I can't see us needing more than 13A!

Look forward to seeing you all there!

Just got back and had a great 2 days. It wasd a shame there weren't more people Sun, and I couldn't make Fri. Next year.

The crowd seemed to love the ants and I think we may get a few new people. The ants were free to drive compared to the featherweights and RC tanks. I number of people let the audience drive their ants, Hyper Puppy and an unnamed cardboard box went for 2 days and gave no problems apart from the Tx needed recharging. My homemade speed controllers made from Futaba S148 servos lasted 2 days which amazed me, also I need slower geared motors for people to drive.

Everyone liked Eggman. Although it never moved.

I should have some pictures sometime.

Yes it was great. My run all day robot ran all day. I may even try to make it comply with AWS rules next time! Let's hope we see some more people here soon.

(although I must point out that anyone new going to http://www.robotwars101.org/ would probably think that they had gone to the wrong site! We probably need a clearer pointer - BIG LETTERS - to the antweight forum from the front page - IMHO)

And many thanks to Gary for making it all possible.

Simon, all the business cards referred to Antweights.com not robotwars101 so they will go straight to the antweight section. I have updated some of the index pages for the shop, world series and indeed the RW101 homepage to welcome and inform any new friends that drop by!

BTW, John Frizzell came up to me this afternoon with a set of stats from an american website which showed that the small weight classes (150g, 1lb, 3lb) have significantly more robots than the feathers or heavyweights. 1lb was the most popular by many fold.

I'm trying to source parts to make the antweight kit cheaper, so any websites or info would be welcome.

Finally big thanks to Gary for doing all of the organisation, manning the tables all three days (along with James) and making sure that no visitor was ever left ignored.

I wondered who the guy was with the spreadsheet.

If I could get a decent ant that stood a chance I would go to America with a 150g robot. San Francisco is very nice.

I'm sure PeteW would go too as long as Mrs Waller was ok with it.

Tonight I will hopefully get the photos off my camera, post the 4.o rules and get details about the basics of a new style ant (for the Ant shop).

Hopefully I should be able to do a quick tutorial on the Futaba S148 speed controller mod. For anyone that wasn't at Brighton it involves turning a Futaba servo (4 for ?10 on eaby) into an antweight speed controller.

I was going to go this year but I never quite got round to saving up the ?1000 for flights and hotel. What with buying the 2.4Ghz gear to be legal over there and a new colour printer and a few other bits and pieces I am no further ahead so I have cancelled my entry. Maybe next year. If you are interested in what is going on over the USA then try :

Be warned they call 150gm bots Fairies.

Thanks to everyone who gave up their time to help out - the two Petes, Oliver, (Razer)Dave, Simon and Nathan (and PeteC's mate Steve).

Most of the 200 business cards I printed went, and we gave away lots of copies of the Pants plans. It will be interesing to see how many hits the website gets and how many real users we get on the forum...

Even though I was totally knackered at work today, it was well worth it. I will sign up for next year, assuming at least some people are willing to help out again.

James benefitted from 3 days driving practice with the new Antlifter, and I managed to get a new Rx for RONNY at a decent price! :)

Thanks for all you did for the event and for sorting out Baby Hell's servos, I'm guessing you're a lot more used to glue than me :)

I got some pics that are going on my website very shortly so click the link in my signature to visit it

Thanks again Gary (and James)

I can't believe I missed this :O

Not only did I not realise that it was this weekend, I could not have come even if I had as over the past two days I have been blessed with a lost voice and incredibly sore throat. I can still barely speak now :(

On the plus side, Antisocial is done apart from putting some wheels on...
