Fully understand - was looking forward to it (hadn't got around to entering yet) and literally ~8 hours or so somebody put something on the 3rd that I kinda have to go to!

I'm also a noob - my ant is still mostly in the post!

What's the event like for spectators? In particular, small, 4ft high, short attention spanned spectators who've just spent an hour in the back of a Honda? :P

So from the video of the last event, Nuts is where four robots are in the corner of the arena, and a number of plastic nuts and bolts are scattered in the centre, and teams have a minute to scoop up as many as possible and put them in their corner. Here's some from last event!

Civil War, I guess is between roboteers who support the monarchy and those who would prefer a Lord Protector instead of good Liz? :D Or maybe it's between Remain and Leave voters if we want a particularly uncomfortable event.

Annihilator I would assume is the same as on the TV show - 6 robots enter, fight until one is eliminated - they're put back in with five machines, and then down to four and so on.

Here's one on the TV show to give you an idea.

As for entertainment for kids - there might be some standing around not doing much, but if he likes watching robot fights, it's pretty much non-stop. And if there's a cluster going, sometimes kids get to drive those (I don't know if it's always the case, but Termite Cluster had an audience participation at AWD 53) but again, it's all about what the roboteers have on show. I think it'd depend how short your kid's attention span is but there should be something to keep him going. Don't be afraid to bring along a PSP or the like though just in case. ;)

Spectators are welcome but if numbers are big then we may have to make some arrangements, not been a problem for previous years though.

Nuts - four robots fight over a pile of plastic nuts for two minutes. Even funnier than it sounds!

Civil War - a new game that pits team members against each other.

Annihilator - as per usual rules, one out each round until we have a winner.

Gladiator - an easy game to add if we have time, there were 25 robots in at Southampton AWS can we break that record?

I'll have jabber with me, if pete brings his we might at least be able to manage a NW melee if it's okay for our EO!

Can i ask a few questions about the competition since this is my first event:
1. Is there an entry fee?
2. Do we have to bring our own tables
2b. If we do do they have to be a certain size
3. Do i have to get my radio certified by someone or will i be fine (not done anything to it)
