£20 an hour ? Balls to that! When I hosted AWS 29, I had the hall for a whole 12 hours for £65!

I had my old college for £50 for AWS35 (although I did get a bit of a discount because I could tie it in to the Extended Project I was putting not terribly much effort into at the time!)

It does seem to vary a lot from place to place. I just had a look round the Aylesbury area and the only one I could find a price for on line was £285 for a Saturday. The biggest problem seems to be that most of them have regular events during parts of the day at weekends so you can't get them for the whole day.

The Auditorium that I used for AWS39 cost me £150 for the day. It's normally £300, but as I work there I managed to haggle them down. We were going to apply to host another event later in the year, but I think this would be too early for us.

I've had the same issue. Most places either cost hundreds of pounds, are fully booked on weekends, or will only allow morning or afternoon hire, not both. There's still one potential lead I'm following up, so I'll keep you all posted if it comes to anything.

Schools and colleges might be up for this, they're often able to hire out their facilities evenings or weekends to boost school funds. I'm happy to ask my local schools if people want me to poke around?

Morning all,

I've just had a reply and it looks like I can get us a decent sized venue. So how does everyone fancy travelling to Wales for the next AWS? I was thinking of July 27, how does that work for everyone? If this is all ok with everyone, let me know and I'll get it booked. Here's the venue on a map - https://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=graig+ ... a=N&tab=wl

Cheers,

Rhys

That sounds good to me a much better date not clashing with the Birminham event.
It has been a while since we had an event in a foreign country.

Ok, well I've provisionally booked it for 27th July, can everyone post to say if they're happy to let me organise it, and also ok with the proposed date? There's some slight scope to change the dates, but 27th is just my preferred date.

Would be fine by us Rhys, providing I can get it off work we'd be there. Does Wales have an airport? lol
