How high are FW arena Walls?

Post by simon13 »

Hello,

Would anyone beable to tell me the height of UK featherweight arena walls? I'm about to start construction on a featherweight electric lifter bot. Tipping other robots over the wall is somewhat essential to my plans.

Thankyou,

Simon

It depends on the arena you're in. They tend to fight in the heavyweight arena, unless its a RoboChallenge featherweight-specific competition. I'd say the walls are a good 50cm at least. Plus the sheer size of the arena and usual number of fellow competitors makes doing anything that requires that degree of precision highly improbable. I doubt you'd be able to get an electric lifter to get another feather out of the arena, but nothing is impossible I guess.

There's been a few lifter bots that could. Iive In the north highlands and I may only travel down for full combat events. From watching videos I'm judging the robochallenge wall to be 300-400mm high? Anyone got an accurate figure? (I have searched online &e-mailed robochallenge with no luck)

I reakon they're around 400-500mm. It would certainly be easier in the Robochallenge arena. I once managed to get a robot out of that arena using drive alone (Storm II vs Steel Avenger style) which was pretty amazing. lol
You might be best asking on the FRA forum for a more accurate answer. Someone on there will know.

Just been on the phone with Grant (Robochallenge), he says the walls are 295-300mm (he can't remember the exact figure :P) but thats what you're looking at.

BTW, you live in the highlands, any chance of you coming to the Robot's Live Edinburgh event in 2 weeks ?

And RE: ramming robots out of the arena, Bonx ('Cavecrusher' Tim's feather) managed to ram a robot over the wall at the FW Champs just gone.

300mm ish. Fantastic. Thanks for that. I'm afraid I'm due to go to a whisky auction the week of Edinburgh. I like robots but I like whisky more.

Thanks again.

I'll never forget driving Tiny Toon at the UK champs in Newcastle, when I ran straight into Bullseye upon activate and he just flew straight over the wall. Whoops! :D
