Re: new < 1g dsm2 compatible rx's!!!
It took two attempts to bind with my TX. It looks like the fail safe turns off the outputs but I would need to put a scope on to confirm. My concern is that I could end up with the situation where it fail safes high then have to wait 30 seconds before I can bind which would be bad if I had a spinner attached...
A bit of coding was needed on the baby-o as the new pulse in signals have 0.4us resolution but fully rc now.
Fitted it to anticipation to show the size, it fits in the same location as the AR6300 on the old one:

Looking good Jim.
A bit of a warning that these speedos do not have a fail safe. If your tx turns off your spinner and drive will not stop if directly connected to the RX.

Thanks.
Seems to work quite well!!

The whole controller is the same size as the side profile of a 2s lipo,so should be very convenient to fit into a robot.

That rather depends I need to finish the testing and checkout things like the fail safes.
Also at the moment the very small and not very bright led is difficult to see the way I mounted the receiver.
I did quite a lot of the layout before the receiver arrived and didn't know where it was.

With 100mm motor leads and 80mm power leads including the JST connector the complete module weighs in at 6 gms.
The failsafe built into the controller works as expected and even with drive running flat out they shut down after about 1 second.
The weapon plug is direct from the receiver so if it is driving a servo that will stop where it is but in the case of a spinner it relies on the brushless controller failsafe which would need to be checked.
The two I tried both shut down after about 2 seconds.

oops, I have had a look at my code; I forgot to add a failsafe clause to the code.

I came across the fingertech controllers a while ago but I never took note of the size, at about 12x12x3 without heat shrink and calibration pins they are pretty much perfect for what I'm planning. they are a bit pricey at 50 pound for a pair posted from Canada but they are a tiny package:
I'll have to find some money so I can get making cradles when they arrive.

Re: new < 1g dsm2 compatible rx's!!!
Finally got round to finishing it.
With the case it is 27 x 26 x 8 mm excluding the wires and servo plug and the whole thing as below weighs in at just under 7 gms.
The LED is just about visible through the RxLED window.
