Re: 3D printer supplies
If you amend onto the end of that description "and charge continually increasing prices while simultaneously getting slower at delivering orders while also changing their pricing structures to make preparing things for print more annoying and time consuming or you get hit with massive overheads", then I think that's a fairly apt description .
But there comes a point in every young boy's life where he must stand up and 3d print by himself; he must break away from the nurturing teat of the corporate shill that now inhabits the shell of his once-beloved Shapeways and stand on his own four stepper motors. He must stand proud atop the heated build plate and yell "No more!". And then proceed into the wilderness unabated to discovered his true strength; or at least, that of his chosen material.

Re: 3D printer supplies
Not in my experience. They've managed to mess up at least 50% of my orders with them. I'm with Scott, on his heated print bed, shouting "no more trips to the UPS sorting office!"Remote-Controlled Dave wrote:Scott...sorry for the amateur approach, but isn't "a 3D printer that just does what it's told and doesn't need any tinkering with" called Shapeways?
Re: 3D printer supplies
I just hunted around ebay for my heated bed stuff.

For anyone that's interested in getting the i3, they've dropped the price to £350 for a limited period.
Re: 3D printer supplies
Wow, thanks Rhys; I wasn't intending to grab mine for another month or so, but that's not a deal to be missed.

I was about to say I can't see that offer lasting long, but it looks like they've already put them back to full price! Fingers crossed they honour my order at the lower price.
Re: 3D printer supplies
Mine too! However I ordered yesterday evening, so I would've expected it to be dispatched by now (don't they do next day delivery on everything?) Maybe they had far more orders than they were expecting.

Re: 3D printer supplies
Yeah, mine was ordered Wednesday night too, so it should be here tomorrow, hopefully. But apparently I'm not allowed to open it until my Birthday! Boo!
I think the price might have gone down because the manufacturer is in Spain and the Euro had a pretty sharp decline at the start of March. But now it's making its way back to where it was. I was looking at buying it direct from the manufacturer and it went from over £400 including P&P down to £370 at one point. Now it's back up to over £390, so I was pleasantly surprised when I saw the offer at 3D print world.

Re: 3D printer supplies
The instructions for mine came in spanish. But on the reprap wiki there are some english ones.
When you first get it your first port should be to print yourself some new belt bearing wheels. If you can just use 2 bearing next to each other without the plastic thing instead. It causes a lot ow wear on the belt and I've had to replace mine already, when I get a chance I'll buy more bearings and run just on those. 3M blue tape is your friend aswell!
